Daily Agenda

Thursday, February 2
Last day!

Well folks, I've made it to the end of my first semester as a teacher. You've accomplished a lot, especially considering that we lost almost five weeks from the first quarter. I'm proud of what everyone in the class has learned.

Please take a Semester Evaluation form from my desk and give me your frank feedback. Your name is optional.

Put the finishing touches on your artifact project. Dont forget to synchronize your FINAL project to the outbox!

Don't forget to add alt text to your pictures and and a page title, as well as credit all pictures.

Monday, January 30
Last Week of the Semester

There are three days left in the semester for this class. This class won't have a final exam.

Polish up your artifact assignment. Read the entire page to yourself and look at the grammar. Use the spell checker (choose the Text menu then choose Check Spelling).

Finish up other old assignments.

Tomorrow I'll ask you to fill out an evaluation of how this class went, so think about it.

Monday, January 23
Artifact Assignment

This week you'll work on an Artifact Page. You'll start with a short design document and then create the actual web page.

Friday, January 20
Fair Use Guidelines and Artifact Assignment

IMPORTANT: Your websites will probably include pictures or images from the Internet. Add every image to your design Word file along with the URL where you got it from.

See these Fair Use Guidelines for more information.

Next week you'll start working on the Artifact Assignment, where you'll write ONE web page about an object or an image that is important to you. Start thinking about what you want to use for your artifact.

Thursday, January 19
Introduction to Dreamweaver

So far you've learned how to make web pages in Word and using raw HTML in Notepad.

Today you'll start using Macromedia Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is a real web design tool. It lets you do all the cool things you see on web sites.

Do Assignment #22. This is due tomorrow.

Wednesday, January 18
Microtype

Finish up yesterday's HTML in the Raw assignment and then spend at least 20 minutes with MicroType.

Do Assignment #21.

Thursday, January 12
What's the simplest way to make a web page? Word!

Microsoft Word can be a decent web page editor. You already know how to use it and works OK for simple designs.

Today you'll learn to use Word to build a few web pages. You'll use Word to create a link to another file on your computer and a link to a page on the World Wide Web.

Later we'll use some other programs to build web pages.

Today we'll also get more precise definitions for some of yesterday's vocabulary words:

Do Assignment #20: Using Word to Make Web Pages.

Wednesday, January 11
What Makes a Good Web Page?

Today we begin a new unit on web design. You'll learn to evaluate web pages and to create your own web pages.

After we complete this unit, you will know how to use the web to communicate effectively and responsibly. This is part of the Washington State Learning Goals that all students must achieve.

Today you will write what you know about some words related to web design and you'll write about web pages that you like or don't like. Do Assignment #19: Web Page Vocabulary and Evaluation.

Monday, January 9
Cover Letter

Start working on a cover letter. This is due tomorrow.

Friday, January 6

When you're done, you can finish up any old assignments or do MicroType.

Wednesday, January 4
Resume Discussion

You'll notice that the class web page has a new look. The most recent activity is now at the top of the page, not at the bottom. The assignments are on a separate page. This page has a table of all the assignments at the top.
